Coastal Redwood
26 1/2”W x 59 1/2”H
Original relief print on Japanese rice paper, mounted on canvas and set within a black floater frame.
This Northern California old-growth redwood lived for more than 400 years; its wide lower rings indicate periods of abundant growth, while the narrow, strained rings above suggest hardship. The outline forms a figure reminiscent of Alexandros of Antioch’s famous sculpture, Venus de Milo, inspiring the name Antioch.
